I have been baking since I was old enough to be able to see over the work surface. I was taught a lot of the basic baking skills by my Gran who was from the school of look in the cupboard, see what there is and then come up with a recipe. I still like to do some random baking occasionally as that is the way of finding new flavours that work or new ways to do things. However I love to follow recipes too as it enables me to use my creative skills in the decorating of the cake instead.
Since then I have been an electrical engineer and a Maths teacher before having my two children. I have now decided the time is right to start making cakes for a living as I love the chance to create something that not only looks amazing but tastes great too. I am entirely self-taught but I have completed the Level 2 CIEH Award in Food Safety.
In 2016 I entered the Cake International competition at the NEC in Birmingham and was awarded a Bronze and a Gold Award for my entries. I look forward to entering again in 2017.
